Bespoke Oak Framed Buildings Kent & Sussex
Bespoke Oak Framed Buildings.Handcrafted oak frames combining traditional techniques, exceptional craftsmanship and 28 years of experience.
Traditional Oak Framing for Modern Living
Oak has been used to create remarkable buildings for centuries – and for good reason. Strong, characterful and naturally beautiful, an exposed oak frame creates a building with a sense of permanence that few other materials can match.
At Mark Groombridge Oak Framer, we have spent 28 years working with oak, using traditional carpentry skills to create bespoke frames for properties throughout Kent and Sussex.
Working from architectural drawings and specifications, our craftsmen manufacture and construct each frame specifically for the individual project.
There are no standard frames or mass-produced solutions. Every structure is different.
Traditional oak-pegged joints, substantial timber sections, naturally curved braces and carefully considered detailing combine to create buildings that celebrate the natural beauty of oak.
Oak Framed Homes
Beautiful Homes Built Around an Oak Frame.
A structural oak frame can create a remarkable centrepiece for a new home.
Exposed beams, vaulted ceilings and substantial oak sections provide warmth and character while offering considerable flexibility in the overall architectural style.
From traditional barn-inspired properties to contemporary homes combining oak with large areas of glazing, we manufacture oak frames to suit a wide variety of architectural designs.
Our role is focused on what we do best – crafting and constructing the oak frame – working alongside your architect, builder and other professionals to help turn the plans into reality.
Oak Framed Extensions
Add Space, Character and Craftsmanship to Your Home.
An oak-framed extension can transform an existing property, adding valuable living space while creating an architectural feature in its own right. We construct oak frames for extensions to both traditional and contemporary properties throughout Kent and Sussex.
The natural character of oak works particularly well when connecting old and new architecture. Exposed structural timbers can complement a period property while glazing and contemporary finishes create a light, open living space.
Where a project involves a listed or historic property, we can work alongside your architect and conservation professionals to manufacture and install an appropriate oak frame in accordance with the approved plans.
Oak Framed Garages
More Than Somewhere to Park the Car.
Our oak-framed garages are built with the same attention to detail as our larger structures.
Substantial oak sections and traditional jointing techniques create garages with genuine character and presence, making them an attractive addition to the surrounding property rather than simply a functional outbuilding.
Frames can be constructed for single or multiple bays and adapted to accommodate workshops, storage areas, upper floors and other requirements specified within your architectural plans.
Every oak garage frame is individually manufactured to suit the project.
Oak Framed Garden Buildings
Bring the Beauty of Oak Into Your Garden.
Oak-framed garden buildings can create anything from an outdoor entertaining area to a substantial garden room, studio or additional living space.
Exposed timbers and vaulted roof structures create a wonderful feeling of space, while large areas of glazing can introduce natural light and provide a strong connection between the building and its surroundings.
Whether the architecture is traditional or contemporary, we can manufacture and construct the oak frame in accordance with your approved plans.
Commercial Oak Framed Buildings
Our experience extends beyond residential properties.
We work on commercial oak-framing projects throughout Kent and Sussex, including hospitality venues, public buildings, commercial premises and larger timber-framed structures.
We are accustomed to working alongside architects, structural engineers, builders and other professional contractors, integrating our specialist oak-framing work into the wider construction programme.
With 28 years of practical oak-framing experience, we can also provide valuable specialist input where appropriate during the construction process.
Built by Craftsmen
Creating an oak frame requires considerably more than simply cutting pieces of timber to size.
Understanding the material – how it behaves, how loads transfer through the structure and how traditional joints work together – comes from years of practical experience.
That knowledge runs through everything we do.
Each frame is carefully manufactured by skilled craftsmen before being assembled and erected on site, resulting in an oak structure designed to become an integral part of the building for generations.
